Here is a recent photo of a puppy born still intact in his sac. This is known known as caul birth and happens in roughly 1 in 80,000 human births.
In a litter of puppies, each develops in the amniotic sac with their own placenta, which provides them with oxygenated blood. Once the puppy has been born this blood supply ends and so they’re reliant on being able to breathe on their own to survive. We quickly broke the sac so that this little puppy could breathe. Such a magical moment and very educational for others to see.
Here at Emeraldax we try and make your whole experience a journey. From first contact we will ask you to complete our Puppy Application Form, this will tell us everything that we need to know about you. We will also chat with you quite a bit over the telephone before we decide that you are the right human for one of our babies. Once we are happy with you and you with us, the journey begins....
You shall be contacted and advised when a mating has taken place and then the waiting game starts to see if the pregnancy has been successful. This is usually 28-30 days from first mating.
If the mating is successful you shall receive a scan photo of your potential new baby.
So now we wait for the big day!!
Dachshunds usually give birth from 63 days but can go over by a few days which is normal.
Once the litter has been born you will be sent the happy news and advised if there is a puppy in the litter that could be your baby.
Once your baby is chosen you will be sent weekly videos and photos until you get to meet him/her at 4 weeks of age. When you meet your baby for the first ever time you already feel like you know them.
If you are on Facebook we will add you to our 'Puppy Group’ which we add all of ournew owners to. This way you get to know the other puppy owners and share your excitement with each other. This is a great way to keep in touch with them later on to see how your baby’s siblings are getting on.
We allow new owners to visit their puppy as many times as they wish. This helps you to bond with your new baby.
And now the big day has come to bring your new baby home!!!
We know how exciting this day is for you and it makes us so happy to know that our babies will be going to the best possible homes.
Take a look at our puppies that went viral with over 59 Million Facebook views.
